welcome Becca, this club is great for support and
tips. as far as cystic acne goes, i get a few every
month. the best thing for me is to soak the area in hot
water, wait for a whitehead to form, and then pop it.
applying neosporin also is a good idea after the cystic
zit is popped, to speed up the skin repair.
bryan

Ortho Tri-Cyclen

Has anyone taken this for hormonal acne? Though
the Accutane has taken care of most of the regular
acne, I am still breaking out significantly before and
during my period, for about 2 weeks a month. Maybe Ortho
Tri-Cyclen will help– has it helped anyone? I’ve heard the
commercials, but real testimony will help. I’m bringing this
up with my doc on Saturday morning hopefully. Thanks
so much! Hope you are all doing well and have a
great Easter/Passover holiday.

Take Care,
Ok, I’m a dork for replying to my own message.
HA! Anyway, I just spent -what, a half-hour (?)
reading posts and my-o-MY y’all are informative! Just
about every question I can think of has been answered.
LOL, thanks! Anyway, I do have a few comments to make,
so bear with me (it’s just one’a those days)
k?

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I’ve had cystic
acne for 10 years. Oh MAN is that a pain. Literally.
They hurt like the dickens and are SO hard to get rid
of. I’ve been through it all: Tetracyclin,
Minocyclin, Retin-A, Differen, Ortho-Tricyclin, Cleocin-T
Gel…you name it. The ONLY (now mind you, this is just MY
experience) thing that ever worked was Accutane. Granted, I
was only on it for 4 months –but I did notice a HUGE
difference. Yeah, the side effects can get annoying (ugh,

Hey y’all, my name’s Becca and I’m 24. I’m so
glad I found a place for ‘tips’ –looks like I’m back
to the drawing board and could certainly use some.
I’ve had cystic acne (I know, sounds gross) for, well
-since I was 14. I’ve tried everything you can probably
think of and more. I was on Accutane for about 4 months
but my insurance got cut off when I quit my job and I
can’t afford it now, so I’m back to using the "methods
of mayhem". UGH. Anyways, just wanted to introduce
myself –now I’m off to read all the posts.

skin update

i’ve never had a little white head more than a
few days with the method i use. when i messed with a
tiny whitehead one day, i made it bright red and it
was swollen. (trying to pop it). i could see it a
mile away…no joke! so i tell everyone, don’t mess
with small whiteheads, they are not as noticable as
you think. but a swollen red spot is very
noticable!
bryan

Eliminating Sugar

Well, the story goes that this was right after
summer finals last year, and I had a little breakout,
and the doctor asked me if I had been applying my
Differin. I said not for a couple of weeks, because I tend
to study late and fall asleep before I washed my
face. I had always been told to wait 30 minutes for
your face to dry before putting on topical meds. So, I
didn’t put the stuff on because my face wasn’t clean. At
first I got a lecture ("Patient uses finals as bad
excuse for not using meds") and then he said, actually,
he would rather me NOT wash my face and put on the
medicine than not doing anything. At the end of that
visit, he said that since the Differin and Klaron was
drying me out, that maybe its better that I didn’t wash
my face before bed. I am so bad at washing my face

Eliminating Sugar

Hi, I wanted to reply to your message about
washing your face. Did your doctor tell you not to wash
your face at night? My doctor told me that this is the
most impportant time to wash your face. And never to
apply any topical medication without first washing your
face because you can force debris and dirt into your
pores which can make your problem worse or cause more
pimples. I don’t know where your doc got that from…or is
that just his opinion…anyway…have you ever popped
a zit at night and by morning the area has healed
itself? Have you ever noticed that your face may appear
clear upon your first early morning rising and then it
starts to flare up when you become active and your body
begins to awaken? Well, your skin repairs itself through
the night. In fact I don’t pop zits unless it is at

Did you call and make an appointment? I really
hope you like them, I have gone there for acne and a
pre-cancerous mole and scar removal, and for everything, they
are great. If you do see them, I hope you like them
as much as I do.

I’m glad I could help,
