Preventing Acne

Thursday, June 26th, 2003

I have a fair few pimple. They are the big, ugly,
acne kind, but it hasn’t yet quite gotten to acnee
stage, but I want to stopp it before it does. I can’t
afford an expensive course of medication, and am after a
fairly cheap solution. Can anyone help??

I do not wear any foundation to my visits
anymore. I used to, because I was so ashamed of my face,
but I stopped. My goal (with the doctor) was to be
happy enough with my face to not wear foundation. It
hasn’t happened, but I always wanted the doctor (and
myself) to see how much progress was made. If you wear
makeup, I can’t make a fair comparision of where I am
(without base) and where I want to be (not wearing base).
My doctor has always been cool with wearing makeup,
though, I’m sure he wouldn’t have a problem if I did wear
it. But every derm is different, ask your doctor, or
the nurse. Hope this helped!!! By the way, if you are
worried about the way you look in public, 1. I am sure
you don’t look that bad, and 2. Everyone who is at
that dermatologist’s understands what you are going

If I’m going to be out and about before my derm.
appt., I usually go ahead and apply make-up. My derm.
has these special goggle-like glasses he wears and he
can get an accurate view of how my face looks with
make-up. I don’t get peels so I don’t have to worry
whether or not to wear make-up and with the glasses, like
I said, I don’t have to worry about rushing home to
take it off.

You sound exactly like me about the makeup. You
are not alone, I won’t leave my house without makeup
(unless I absolutely have to) and haven’t in years. But
when it comes to going to the derm, your best bet is
to go without makeup atleast the first time, that
way they can really see what they are dealing with.
For follow ups, my doctor doesn’t care if I wear
makeup. But when I go for peels, I have to go without. I
know it is hard, but it’s for a good reason…to help
your acne.

hi, im new here, but i have read through some of
the past posts. i have learned a lot, esp. that im not
the only one who stresses so much about my skin. i
always thought i was the only one who concetrates almost
all attention on zits. anyway, after comeing to the
conclusion that i cant battle my acne by myself with OTCs, i
have decided to make an appointment with my doc to see
if there is something more i can do. i have moderate
acne, but it bugs the hell out of me. to all the
females that wear makeup and go to the doc or derm for
acne, i have a question. do you wear your makup to your
appointments? i never even consider leaving the house without
makeup on, i know it will be better to go to the doc
without anything on my face, but would it be alright if i
just wore light makeup? gawd, i sound horrible, but i

Glad you liked it! I’ve been doing it for about 3 weeks now, and it’s going way
down!

ICE IMPORTANT…

i think that ALL zits come straight out of hell.
i think they can really give you a sense of
despair.
but it does feel good to pop them suckers.
after a zit pops …it will be smaller and go away. yes
there is the risk of scaring. but shaving brings this
risk as well. i’m just happy i haven’t had a cystic
zit lately…i hate them with a passion.
bryan

that some zits seem to come straight from hell?
They are like, bottomless pits of despair. My zit that
errupted was of this variety. Even the blood that seemed
to gush out was of a darker red variety and so thick
too.

ICE IMPORTANT…

Sunday, June 22nd, 2003

I tried the ice one time and was fairly pleased.
Oh so chilly though! I accidently had a zit explode!
I used hydrogen peroxide on it at first, I do that
sometimes if I bleed. I figure it can only help. Anyways,
then I applied ice since I heard about it here, and
the swelling went WAY down and there was a much
smaller mark left than you might expect considering the
hugeness of the zit. I’m tellin you, that sucker exploded!
Acne is so gross.
