My story

Hearing about your sister’s experience with
accutane was a relief to me, because most people I talk to
or read about who have taken accutane speak of
unbearable dryness of lips and skin! I’m hoping I won’t have
to suffer those side effects, although that is just
the tip of the iceberg in relation to accutane’s side
effects! I drink a tremendous amount of water as it is
because I work at a food place, and I get free
food/drinks while I’m working, so I drink bottles of water
all day! I will have to get some of that Carmex! From
what I have heard, Cetaphil seems to be a good facial
cleanser for dry skin (which is what I am expecting after
I start accutane). Was accutane effective in
treating your sister’s acne? I have done a lot of reading
and I haven’t been able to find a percentage of how

effective/successful accutane has been in users. I will have to ask my
derm. when I see her next (Aug 7). When I go in, we
will have to do all the lab tests and baseline maps
before I can start accutane, PLUS I think I will have to
be on birth control for 1 month before I start. I
hope I don’t have to do this, because I practice
abstinence and I don’t want to take any unnecessary
medication. I mean, accutane is going to be enough, I don’t
want to worry about side effects from another pill,
LOL!

–Christine
