Has anyone used birth control for acne?

Friday, November 21st, 2003

I have. It didn’t work amazingly well; my derm
(who did suggest it) said that it won’t work for
everyone, but in my case, he felt it would be "safer" for
my body to go on Ortho then to do another round of
Accutane. I could have stopped it, since I’m taking it only
for my face, but it makes my periods considerably
shorter, so I still take it. It’s extremely simple to
take!! I haven’t gained weight either. If you have any
more questions, please ask!! Take Care,
Karyn

Question for mollipie

I noticed awhile back that you recommended
Bio-Remedy’s Acne Relief homeopathic. You said it worked
great, better than Accutane, and that it cleared your
skin completely.

Your new posts seem to
indicate that you’re battling problem skin again. Did the
Bio-Remedy stop working for you? I was just wondering,
because I recently started taking it. Anything you can
share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Mark

Has anyone used birth control for acne?

Thursday, November 20th, 2003

I was on it for 6 months, and it didn’t do anything at all for my face…It did
however give me breakthrough bleeding 3 weeks out of 4 every month for all 6
months! Exciting, eh?

Has anyone used birth control for acne?

I wondered if any of you girls in here have ever
tried "Ortho Tri-cyclen" birth control for acne? I have
seen a lot of articles saying it really works great.
If so, did you gain a lot of weight on it? I had my
hormones checked last year, and my testosterone level was
slightly high-my derm said that was probably the cause of
my acne.

bringing it to a head

Wednesday, November 19th, 2003

This is sort of funny, but it works. I get those
really huge pimples that take forever to come to a
head…I found some stuff in my cabinet called "Boil Ease"
It’s for boils, but I put a dab of it on the large
pimples that had not come to a head yet-and by morning,
they had popped!

Proactiv Update

Wednesday, November 19th, 2003

Okay, so I told you all that I bought
proactiv…I received it at the beginning of the week (yay!)
Bad thing is…My boyfriend is allergic to Benzoyl
Peroxide (Heckuva thing to be allergic to, eh?) Anyway, so
I can only use it in the mornings when we’re not
very close to each other that way he doesn’t break
out.
But guess what!? It is actually working…I’ve had
TONS of compliments on my face already and it hasn’t
even been a full week! I’m so excited…
I talked
to my derm and he also said that only washing my
face once a day might be helping too because I wash my
face in the morning with the proactiv and then at
night I just splash some water on it to get any traces
of benzoyl peroxide off so my b/f doesn’t break out
in hives..
Well just thought I’d update everyone
(more…)

I have a Q!

Tuesday, November 18th, 2003

Okay, first of all you really shouldn’t "pop" any
pimples at all, but if you really really feel like you
have to my derm told me the best way to do it is
this…
Get a washcloth and get some of it wet with water
that is as hot as you can stand…Then just hold the
washcloth on the pimple and that will soften the skin and
most likely the skin will become so soft that
sometimes the pimple will sort of just pop itself…(You
may have to get the washcloth wet with the hot water
a couple of times before the pimple is ready
though).

I have a Q!

Tuesday, November 18th, 2003

Can some one please tell me if you can pop out
the pimples? And how to do it in a right way so you
don’t get it worse?
Cuz u know sometimes I get the
ones that white and almost out by themslefs (you can
see the "head") can I pop out that ones? Just to help
the "head" go out faster?

Thanks.
