homemade facial mask: recipe

Friday, March 26th, 2004

hey guys. i found a facial mask that is supposed to clean the pores
and exfoliate the skin. Ive just tried it and it has made my skin
really soft.

DIRECTIONS: mix baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and water together to
make a paste, apply on your face with your hands or cotton ball. Let
dry. Rinse with cool water.

i got this recipe by going to musaffeen.com clicking on the link for
the free acne treatment handbook, they have other recipes and facts
and such.

Just to let u guys know…

Hi

Friday, March 26th, 2004

. My name is Erin. I’m 30 and have always battled skin problems.
When I was 10-11 years old I was on acutane for 6 months and it
cleared my skin up back then mostly…but still battle little
breakouts and lots of black heads. Mainly on my face but also a
little on my shoulders, back and chest….Right now I am using
Clinique makeup and Neutragena (spelling wrong I know) cleaning
products. But it doesn’t seem to help a whole lot. My skin is also
very oily. I was wondering what works for everyone out there. Has
anyone tried that Proactive stuff they keep advertising on TV?
Thought about checking that out but its awful expensive to try and
find out it doesn’t work so I don’t know….thanks for any help you
can offer.

acne is gone

That may be true, but Ortho Tri-Cyclen is the first oral
contraceptive clinically proven to help clear acne. This is actually
interesting that you bring this up, seeing as I discussed this with
my derm a few days ago. Like you said, when there started to be
competition with Ortho Tri-Cyclen, they wanted to make it a household
name again, so they looked at the effects of it on acne, and found
them to be positive. However, Ortho only helps 50% of those who take
it for acne, according to my derm. I’m one of the 50% who hasn’t
been helped by it. So yes, this can be great if it helps, but don’t
look to it to be your best option!

acne is gone

Actually, any kind of birth control pill helps acne. My midwife told
me they start to help after you’ve been on them for 6 months. Ortho-
Tri-Cyclen just decided to do a big ad campaign with acne as their
main selling point. But just so everyone knows, any kind of birth
control pill helps!

All Birth Control Pills Clear Up Acne…

Wednesday, March 24th, 2004

It’s not just Ortho-Tri-Cyclen. I was told by my doctor that all
birth control pills will help clear up your skin. They start working
after six months. Ortho TriCyclen just decided to make a big ad
campaign out of it so they would get more sales. So if you’re going
on the pill, you don’t need to specifically take that one, you can
take the one that’s right for you. My doctor didn’t want me on any
kind of "Ortho" pill because they change your hormones more than once
a month. But I’m getting to the six month mark now, so hopefully
they’ll start working! Just wanted everyone to know you don’t need
that specific brand of pill to get acne relief!

Philips Milk Of Magnesia

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2004

Hi all ~

I have been using Philips Milk of Magnesia to clear up some of the
oiliness on my face. I have discovered that it has helped get rid of
my occassional zits, too! Every other night I apply it with a cotton
ball and let it sit overnight. I have seen a great improvement!

Proactive and other stuff

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2004

hi, i haven’t been here in a while, but i thought i’d add my two
cents about proactive. it didn’t work for me. i used it for about
three months, but then again, i have a friend who is using it (mind
you she doesn’t really have acne…) and says it’s great.

does anyone else get super pissed about their acne? i can’t freagin
stand it anymore. i’ve had it for ten years now and I can’t get rid
of it. But you know what makes it 100 times more depressing?
People who come on messageboards and try to sell us some product by
pretending that they use it all the time and it works for them. I
hate that. It’s like they strive on depressing us even more by
getting our hopes up with a new product. Mind you now I realize
that nothing will ever get rid of my acne so I don’t even bother
with new products.

proactive does it work?

Monday, March 22nd, 2004

Proactive did not work for me either. I have found something that seems to work
really well for me now, though. It’s called M.D. Forte Facial Cleanser II. It
was recommended by my dermatologist. It comes in a huge bottle - I’ve had mine
since Christmas and still have a little bit left. I think it runs around $20 a
bottle. It is distributed by Allergan. If you’re interested, check out their
website at www.allergan.com or there is an 800 number, it is
1-800-377-7790. This cleanser contains glycolic acid, which exfoliates the
skin and helps unclog the pores. I use it in the morning and before bed.
Hope this helps!
