elitekatie’s exfoliating oatmeal cleanser
Well Katie, I just want to tell you that I think I love you! (I’ll
determine this for CERTAIN after I’ve used your cleanser more!)
Actually, I used it as a mask. I made a slightly thicker paste and
put it on my face until it dried. It was a bit difficult to get the
oatmeal off once it dried, so I let a warm, moist washcloth lay on my
face for a few minutes first. Let me tell you…after I rinsed it
off, I noticed that the dry, dead skin (from scarring and so forth)
was beginning to tighten and loosen, but my normal skin was still
smooth. I’m not going to pick at it, which I have a habit of doing.
(You know, I was reading that constant skin picking can be considered
an obsessive-compulsive behavior and can be treated with therapy, but
that’s beside the point.) Because I noticed how well it worked, I
decided to use it as an overnight treatment on a couple of pimples I
have, and it really did shrink them. Now, if only I could find a way
to use it on my back! (My skin is oily and I get itty bitty little
bumps on my back…I’m pretty sure it would take just one treatment
to get rid of those!) Again, thanks for the tip, and please keep us
posted of any further developments. (I’m quite interested in your
recipe for the foot smoother.) Take care.

Thank you - that’s the nicest reaction I’ve ever had. Most people
It really does do alot, both as mask and as cleanser … I love the
look at me with disgust (esp. my boys) in regard to using FOOD on their skin
clean, no-perfume, non-medicine smell as I use it / that it doesn’t leave
behind. I won’t use anything else on my face (and it’s cheap … can’t beat
that).
I wonder if buying an oatmeal soap bar (real soap) and using it gently
on a loofah could help your back? I’ll try to brainstorm that one …
meanwhile, this powder could be sprinkled onto a dampened washcloth and
worked back and forth over the areas (one hand over shoulder, other coming
from behind your waist to hold both ends of cloth) … a little messy, but
???

Hi - grind up your oats, then measure. This is 1/3 of the recipe, or 1 part.
Add an equal part of white sugar, and an equal part of powdered milk. Blend
well. Store in waterproof container, and use a bit in your palm with just
enough warm water to make the consistency of a paste more or less. Let the
oats scrub for you, you shouldn’t push and scrub on your skin too hard. If
you follow with a witch hazel / rosewater toner mixed with a dab of aloe gel,
it really helps your skin. I’m not claiming a cure, but it’s greatly reduced
my acne, controlled my overly oily skin, and controlled my dry, flaky
surface. Good luck … Katie

I use my blender (and stop it / dislodge it from the blades with a spatula)
… wears it down, but it works. I wash "as usual," but it feels so good
that sometimes I’m tempted to leave it on a few extra minutes.
