Try and get him to just clean his face twice a day. I
used to wash my face about 5 or 6 times a day so i
could clean the oil of my skin, and when i finally
only cut down to 2 washings per day, I noticed that my
skin was only slightly oily. Witch Hazel can be too
drying and a skin irritant. Make sure your son wears
sunscreen too (one that doesnt clog pores) when you go
outside. This book that i borrowed from the library
(Don’t Go to the Cosmetic’s Counter Without Me 5th
Edition by Paula Begoun) she reviews all the skin care
products and cosmetics and says what stuff is bad for
your skin, and she also has a website that has
information and her products at cosmeticscop.com if
you want to look into that.
hi, and welcome to the group. one thing you could try
is acidopholus pills, the one I use is Pro-Biotic’s
which has the most good bacteria. it’s not an
antibiotic, just something you can find at GNC or
maybe another vitamin store. acidophulus gives you
more good bacteria in the digestive system. maybe it
will help with some of your acne (it did with mine).
Right now i am using alpha hydroxy acids(AHA), i dont
know if you ever heard of that, its similiar to retin
a on how it works, it has to make your skin worse with
acne and pull out everything and then <supposedly> it
clears up, just AHA isnt a prescription drug. epex.com
gives out 1 oz. samples of their AHA for $2.00.
Well, good luck!
My son has clear skin for a couple of months, then all of a sudden
he’ll break out and it’s really bad…his whole face is just a mess.
I like natural products, in fact I make natural skin care products
for dry/sensitive skin, but I’m at a loss for what could help him.
One thing I have read is that if you strip the skin of its natural
oils then it will produce more oil to make up for it so you should
stay away from harsh products that are drying. He uses clearasil
(sp?) facial wash and pads. I’ve convinced him to cut back on the
pads (he was using them 3 times a day) and to use witch hazel
instead, but I can’t seem to get him to totally give up his
products. Could that be the problem? Has anyone found that harsh
products made things worse? Any suggestons on what could help?

HELLO! WElcome to the group!
I dont know of any oral meds that would be good for you. I also stopped
taking ortho tri cyc,,,, so i had to figure out how to get my skin clear
with out takig any oral meds… i am 27 years old… had acne since i
was about 10 or 11…. and it was pretty bad… seems like the older i
got the worse it got too~ what a rip off! Anyway… i tried all kinds of
topicals and oral meds.. nothing worked…
UNTIL……….
drum roll please………..
Retina A Micro changed my life forever…. in early april of this year..
.i had my family doc call in a prescription of retina a micro to my

Hi Everyone…. I am new to the group and wanted to post a quick
intro! My name is Anna & have had acne since I was a teen (I am
24 now)…. I am tired of this acne! In HS it wasn’t so bad….
just
your typical teenage acne…. Then after HS it got really bad, so I
finally saw a Dermatologist. It started to clear up really well on
just topicals (I can’t take oral antibiotics for long periods of
time).
Then I went on Ortho-Tricylene…. that cleared my skin up 100%!
Then I went off of it and my acne came back worse than ever…
now it is cyst-like and is causing scars. I am still using
Cleocin-T, Akne-mycin, and bactroban. I used to be on Azylex…
but my prescription ran out & I don’t have the funds to go back to
my Dr. ![]()

Was this group always moderated like this? It seems that it didn’t
take 2-3 days for messages to post back when I first started using
it…
On the suggestion of one of my friends, I requested a free sample from
dermaware.com. They have a line of what they call "bio-targeted" treatments.
The samples are small, but you don’t use that much of them, so it should last
awhile. Anyhow, the 3 items I like are the nitty gritty facial scrub (it has
jojoba oil in it) and the bare fruit enzyme mask I & II. I let my mom try the
stuff, and our faces reacted differently. When she used it, nothing happened.
But when I used it, it brought those underground nasties to a head. There was
one bump that the oatmeal mask didn’t seem to be working on. It was pretty
deep. About 20 minutes after I used the mask, it was brought to a head. All I
did was touch it and it was…relieved. Anyway, some of the items in the line
are kind of expensive, but if you just pick and choose what you need, it may be
reasonable for you. Just thought I’d inform you guys!
Hi there,
I’ve developed so many scars and holes developed on my face because
of peeling of pimples prematurely.
Pimples are gone long back, leaving bad marks on face.
Does anyone know good treatment options,
like herbal or creme etc?
Thanks a bunch for any help

UPDATE ON MY SKIN… and the retina micro…
wow. its july 8- and as of last week.. i only use the retiina micro once
a week on wednesday nights now…still no break outs… just a little
white head on my left cheek. really little…and it went away in a dayt
( i think because of that time of the month- that is why i got it….
but before retina a micro i would be a pizza face…) and now i just use
the neutrogena 2.5% on the spot acne clear lotion at night instead of
the retina a micro…. it maintains my clear skin.. its cheaper then
retina a it doesnt over dry and it works!! the micro got everything out
and now the neutrogena 2.5% is keeping all oil dried up and not ov
erdrying my skin.. YEAY!!!
that’s it.. i only used that one tube of retina a micro.. my first tube
that i started back in april…and i am home free… how is everyone
