The Chinese herbal pill I took and had success with was called Magarite Acne
Formula. They only cost around $15 for a month. Here's a link to look at. From
my experience they do work.

I haven't tried Derma Cleanse. I didn't want to fork over the cash
until I heard some feedback. The internal cleansing pills contain
all natural herbs based in "Chinese Medicine." All herbal remedy
books claim those herbs have the healing properties which Derma
Cleanse claims. The ingredients in the face wash and topical
solution were all natural as well. It sounds too good to be true. I
am desperate, not rich. I can't afford $100 a month.

As for the dryness and peeling....I have tried Benzoyl Peroxide in
the past and experienced dryness and peeling. I think I over used
it, trying to clear my face up quickly. I was considering trying it
<!--more-->
again and wanted to know how long to expect the side effects. I was
going to start with a 2.5 solution and apply a small amount once a
day for a week, and then gradually increase. Does this sound like a
good plan to avoid those unwanted side effects? Thanks for any help.

... Derma Cleanse ... internal cleansing pills contain all natural herbs
based in "Chinese Medicine." All herbal remedy books claim those herbs have
the healing properties which Derma Cleanse claims.

It is excellent that you researched those herbs. My concern is that most
will not and, without doing so, you would be medicating (drugging) your
system without being fully informed as to the benefits vs. risks. I have had
some roller-coaster hormones (high estrogens, female cancers in the family)
... in my case, I'm leery and feel the risks are too unknown. The cleansing
herbs sound good IF not so strong as to throw off a healthy balance. I'd be
tempted to take their advertisement to my herbal supplement advisor and have
her help me with regard to safety, effectiveness, and price.

The ingredients in the face wash and topical solution were all natural as
well. It sounds too good to be true ... I have tried Benzoyl Peroxide in the
<!--more-->
past and experienced dryness and peeling. I think I over used it ... I was
considering trying it
again ... to start with a 2.5 solution and ... gradually increase. Does this
sound like a
good plan to avoid those unwanted side effects?

The only way to know is to try as you've described, but have a plan B in case
the side effects are due to your possibly being sensitive to this active. A
week at each concentration would be the minimum, but 2 weeks ought to allow
enough adjustment time to be certain. Look for whether your skin reacts,
whether a reaction is right away or after day #?, and - if reaction not too
severe - does it adjust and calm back down? As you know, some of the
treatments that have been successful took up to 30-45 days of "clean-out"
he!! Benzoyl peroxide, though, is supposed to be an agent that dries ...
right?

Moisture (meaning water content), a properly exfoliating, supple skin
surface, and normal, balanced oil production is essential to healthy skin.
If that is severely interrupted by a drying active, I'd stop then. Drying
out acne-prone skin can make not only acne worse in the long run, but also
scarring, wrinkles, and oil overproduction (then one's skin is oilier than
before while the drier surface can't exfoliate as well and traps more ... you
get the picture). Success with those products does depend upon your skin's
overall condition and your recognizing it's health needs in your maintenance
routines. Remember that acne is a clogged, infected pore.

Especially since you've had the peeling and are willing to try it more
gently, let us know what you decide, do, and how it works. - Katie

No, I haven't tried it, but just went to one of their ads. It brings up a
lot of questions, and that's only on the ingredients of the internal portion
... I couldn't find the ingredients to the topical portion.

Is it from this product you're peeling and dry (from your other post)?
Healing time depends upon how deeply your skin got dried out and is peeling.
It sounds like a bit of an emergency, as in the peeling from a severe sunburn
???

Okay, a healing system to cleanse and treat that should be gentle ...
for cleansing, do the muslin bag thing with rolled oats ... place oats in a
homemade muslin drawstring bag, wet the oats, gently wash with the "milk"
that comes out the sides of the bag. If too sensitive for that, squeeze that
"milk" out into your palm and wash with it. Rinse well with lukewarm water
(not too hot, not too cold). I really don't use the muslin, I grind the oats
<!--more-->
and pour some into my palm, then add a few drops of warm water to get them
all gummy. Whichever way, you'll not want to scrub or scratch, so wash very
gently, but you can have the oats on your face as long as it takes. In fact,
if you're wanting a mask to remove these peels, allow them or the oat "milk"
to dry, then splash with lots of water to rinse off.

Peeling skin is usually due to the acid mantle having been removed and the
skin having been damaged (sunburn, diaper rash, etc.). You'll need to
replace it and feed your skin with moisture. Mix 1 tsp. cider vinegar into
at least 2 Tbsp. aloe juice, even up to 3 Tbsp. (walmart sells it in a gallon
jug) ... apply to still-wet skin using your palms (you probably don't want
the scratching of the cotton). In this case, if no irritation (my guess is
that it should be very soothing), continue applying until all but about 1
tsp. is used up ...

Lastly, I'd add a drop of an oils blend to the remaining aloe mix, and apply
with my palms to help replace fatty acids and retain moisture. The oil to
use is the big question. Jojoba is a good sebum mimic without the toxins -
actually a liquid wax more than an oil - highly recommended except not as
protective as a dry-skinned person may need. Emu oil is fantastic for this
also, but very expensive. Since your skin tends toward dryness at this time,
you'll need a something a little more occlusive but still not a high-stearic
butter or clogging oil. I'd start with an equal mix of avocado oil and
jojoba ... just a drop of that mix with the last tsp. of the aloe mix should
be like an unemulsified but soothing lotion. If too sticky or oily feeling
after having a chance to "soak in," up the jojoba in the mix.

Good luck, let us know what you decide and how it works. - Katie
