Hi group,New member here. Now more than ever, I am more determined to have the
healthy skin I have always wanted but never had. Just last week I scheduled for
my first facial. The aesthetician used a line of skin care products called
Pevonia. Shortly before this visit, been buying products from the Origins line.
Here I am stuck, which line is better for my skin, Pevonia or Origins? Who is
more trustworthy, an aesthetician or a salesperson? While I am at it, my skin
is acne prone. I alternate between Differin Gel and Retin-A during seasons.
Retin-A in the summer and Differin Gel in the winter. Also, another concern of
mine would be the sunless tanning. I know that sunless tanning is the best
option for having that tanned look. But just how safe are they? any long-term
risks? do they age the skin? is it damaging to the skin at all? is one better
off not messing with skin’s natural color? Help! I know it is a lot to answer,
but I really to get things right. I want to be smart about my skin care.
thanks,shortyfromma

Dear Amanda:
We have a few things in common so this was easy to answer! First- I have very
fair skin as well… im a redhead and a northern italian… = glaring

up double time on our fair skin.. argh…

but i will tell you what to do for this… also- you mentioned dry patches
that sometimes bleed on your face from winter etc…. me too.. and i use a
great product that will help that! my MOM and MY gramma both have GORGEOUS

really oily zitty skin… grosss!! looks like some of her levis were swimming
in my jean pool. haaha.

i tried and it was soooo effective and really made a HUGE difference in my

Birth Control and acne

Thursday, November 25th, 2004

Birth control isn’t the acne cure-all that some people seem to think it is. I
was very
surprised and frustrated when my Ortho Tri-Cyclen was not significantly helping
my acne. My derm
told me that this is very normal; BC only helps in about 50% of the acne cases.
He said that
(surprise, surprise) OTC, which was a household name 20 years ago, was being
replaced by other BC
drugs. OTC was freaking out about being replaced, so they tested on acne, and
saw some good
results. Therefore, they can now say they "cure" acne, again making it a
household name.
However, it’s all in the advertising… I still take my OTC, but I don’t count
on it to help my
acne.

Reflect

Monday, November 22nd, 2004

Hey guys… have any of you ever customized any products on
reflect.com or another similary company of the likes… It seems like
a good idea, but I would just like to know if anyone has purchased
their own blend and what their reaction was to it.

Hello

Sunday, November 21st, 2004

I have been a member of this group for a while now but I have never
posted. I would like to say thanks to everyone for all the great
tips. I have been reading the posts and trying out a lot of what
they said and thanks mostly to that my skin has cleared up a lot. My
only problem is my skin still gets really oily and greasy, I have a
lot of blackheads on my nose I just can’t get rid of and I still
have bad breakouts sometimes(although this is just on my forehead
and nose instead of all over my face). Has anyone got any tips to
help with these problems?
Thanks for all your help, Kirstin

depo

Saturday, November 20th, 2004

So I’ve been on depo for about 6 months now, and it hasn’t touched
my face - that’s where I get acne. I remember I went to a
dermatologist who wanted to "check out my back" and about passed
out. He said "Oh my god! You have beautiful skin on your back, I
wonder why it’s so different…" still haven’t figured out why I
have beautiful skin on every inch of my body besides my face, but I
suppose it’s meant to be a mystery.

Anyhow, Depo hasn’t actually made my face worse, or better…I’m
pretty sure it’s the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash that is keeping
my face looking so good.

Oh, and one more thing….There is this GREAT lotion out that is
called Clearasil Total Control - I have a "system" if that’s what
you want to call it. I try extremely hard to keep this up…
