answers for amanda…. its a loong one!
Dear Amanda:
We have a few things in common so this was easy to answer! First- I have very
fair skin as well… im a redhead and a northern italian… = glaring
white… as you can imagine- any kind of redness on theface is going to show
up double time on our fair skin.. argh…
but i will tell you what to do for this… also- you mentioned dry patches
that sometimes bleed on your face from winter etc…. me too.. and i use a
great product that will help that! my MOM and MY gramma both have GORGEOUS
skin too! argh! they are so lucky… BUT my aunt- my mom’s sister… has
really oily zitty skin… grosss!! looks like some of her levis were swimming
in my jean pool. haaha.
ok- so this is JUST a suggestion. based on the answers above… this is what
i tried and it was soooo effective and really made a HUGE difference in my
skin texture and tone. ( i also had some very shallow very minor acne scars
that were bugging me on my cheeks and some hyperpigmentation (red marks) left
were the zits used to be from squeezing them. argh.)
search the internet for this product line: Obagi Nu-Derm
Have you ever heard of the Obagi Blue Peel? Well it is a chemical peel that
turns blue on your face when it is ready to be removed. It lightens your skin
(takes away freckles and red acne scars) and eliminates scarring.
Well- before a patient goes to get this procedure done- they are recommended
by the plastic surgeon to use the Obagi Nu-Derm products for a period of 8-12
weeks - in order to prep the skin for a chemical peel. The plastic surgeon
also informs the patient that after the 8-12 weeks of using this product-
they may NOT even want to go for the chemical peel- because they will be so
pleased with the results of these products…..
hmmmmm- well i tried these products first hand.
and let me tell you- THEY WORKED.
Holy cow- did they work!
Now- mind you- you should have a completly committed approach to using the
products. Because for the first 2-3 weeks- your face will literally peel
off.. the products will sting like hell and you will feel like WHAT AM I
DOING TO MY SKIN!?!?—-i had to fan my face after applying the product on
several evenings when it was just too stingy and hot to handle. ( of course
i am a big baby anyway)
oh amanda- if you could use this advice and make yourself use these products
through the whole 8-12 weeks— will you ever be so glad you did! and i
highly recommend them becaues you have fair skin.
the best thing to do is to buy the kit. there are 3 kits available depending
on your skin type. you have to fill out a questionnaire before they will sell
you the products. AND you also need to use the products in conjunction with
Retina-A cream. Not retina-a micro- they specifically tellyou that you need
to get an RX from your doc for retina-A CREAM (micro wont work with the
products)
The other drawback is this: the kit that you buy is going to cost approx.
$280.00 yikes i know… thank god for master card. i just look at it as an
investment.. it was soo worth it for me.
here is a link to the site where i bought my products:
www.center4skin.com
(it’s the link at the top of this email)
when you go there just click on skin care analysis. and fill it out. a
registered derm will go over your answers and email you which product kit to
purchase.
and remember- you still need to get RETINA-A cream from your doc.
now about the orange juice and soda… this is important to know… and here
is why…
i have also been following a low carb diet. and my skin has never looked
better. here is why: when you eat or drink (especially juices and soda!)
sugar and starches… your body converts the sugar and starches to insulin.
insulin is the HOROMONE that regulates blood sugar. insulin is a HORMONE.
repeat that. it is a horomone… the same kind of hormone similar to
estrogen and testeosterone that freak out around period time and makes you
break out. i am firmly committed to beleiving that what you eat directly
affects not only how you FEEL but also how you look. so when you control your
carb intake- you are controlling your insulin (horomone) levels. = clearer
skin.
works for me. and that’s just nutritional common sense.
plus that will help you loose those 10 pounds you mentioned. (though i betyou
probably really dont need to!) also drinking green tea is so good for your
skin and will also help you loose weight.
as for RX recommendations here they are:
try to stay away from any antibiotic. dont let your gyno or your derm or your
family doc get you on oral antibiotics for acne for crying out loud.
seriously you dont need them. your body will build up a tolerance to them..
you will get yeast infections. you risk damaging your liver. you will have
side effects and most importantly THEY DONT WORK. they only treat the
symptom- not the problem. you can heal your skin with nutrition and vitamins.
and water. and over the counter or topical treatments.
if you dont want to buy the obagi products - i would recommend using
Retina-Micro.. this was very effective for me and the only reason i stopped
using it was because i bought the obagi products and needed to use the
retina-a cream with the products.
i hope this helps!
let me know what else you would like info on
