Blackheads?

Saturday, July 23rd, 2005

Hullo. New member. :) I have a question. I’m not sure if what I have
is blackheads or what, but my nose looks like a flesh-colored
strawberry - nearly every pore on my nose is blocked with a little
black or dark brown spot. Does anyone have any tips on what I can do
to get rid of these? I steam my face about once a week and wash it
regularly with St. Ive’s Medicated Apricot Scrub then apply a
water-based moisturizer at night. I occasionally try those Biore
porestrips but they don’t seem to do very much.

Do you have psoriasis?

Hi guys, I use to get a lot of whiteheads which would turn into red
zits & scars. I also got a lot of cysts on my cheeks and foreheads.
But here’s my regimen which has helped tremendously, and now I only
get small zits which can be covered w/makeup & I don’t get any cysts
at all. I just have scars now.

..I got this rash on my face at frist it just started out in a
spot and it looked like a cluster of little pimples that was about 2
months ago and within the last 2/3 weeks it has spread over the
lower part of my face and on my nose..its very dry, burns and is
very flakey, but it doesn’t look anything like acne now.. i was
wondering if anyone knows what this may be? i’m clueless and i
really can’t find anything in books or on websites that really
explains what it may be so if you can help me thanks alot ..

Acne at 40 years old

Thursday, July 21st, 2005

Try Mary Kay’s Velocity Cleanser and Moisturizer. Also, change the
pillow cases on your bed more often if you have oily skin or you’re
putting a lot of grease in your hair.

Just my 2 cents, Al-Freddia

Sandra,
I am sorry to hear you are still dealing with acne at 38! Is your current
regimen working for you? What I found that works best for myself are:

Benzagel 5 (twice per day on infected spots)
Monodox (doxycycline generic)
-both are doctor’s prescription

L’Oreal Pure Zone Continuous Action™
-Step 1 ~ Pore Unclogging Scrub Cleanser

St.Ives Apricot Scrub (once every night)

Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum Fragrance Free (morning and night)
Olay Regenerist Perfecting Cream (night only)

Hi, nice to meet you. I’ve only used one product in your routine,
the Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner, & did not have much luck w/ it.

Here’s my current routine:

Morning: Purpose Bar Soap, apple cider vinegar as an astringent

Night: Burt’s Bees Bayrum Soap, Nature’s Cure Benzoyl Peroxide Cream

And when I get around to washing my face in the afternoon, it’s w/
the Bayrum Soap. I also sporadically use other products, including
Burt’s Bees Blemish Stick, Phisoderm’s Acne Mask, Phisoderm’s
sacilic acid stuff, Derma Clense gel, Clean & Clear blackhead
control astringent, & Clean & Clear deep cleaning astringent. I’m
sure there’s more, I just can’t think of them, lol.

Hi all,

I am new to the list. I am 38-years old, and I’ve had acne since I was
8-years old!! Thirty years of dealing with this! Ugh!

I went to a dermatologist when I was a child, and all he said was not to eat
chocolate or to pick. We’ve come a long way since those days!!!

My daughter has acne now, and so I took her to a dermatologist. She is
taking antibiotics….both in a cream for her face/neck/chest/back, and also
in pill form. We’ve just begun this course of treatment, so time will tell.

I am wondering what everyone’s facial routine is. These are the products I
use:

Q: Salicylic or Benzoyl?

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

I got this information off webmd.com.

Benzoyl peroxide: Benzoyl peroxide, found in products like Clearasil, destroys
the P. acnes bacteria by penetrating the follicle and releasing hydrogen
peroxide. (Acne cannot survive in the presence of hydrogen peroxide.) It is an
underrated form of treatment, says Guy Webster, MD, PhD, vice chairman of the
department of dermatology at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. The
problem is that most people don’t use benzoyl peroxide products correctly, says
Webster. They apply the medicine to existing pimples rather than using it
wherever they are likely to get acne, which can prevent it from popping up in
the first place. "I would see far fewer acne patients if people knew how to use
benzoyl peroxide correctly," he says.
Salicylic acid: Available in a number of lotions, creams, and pads (Stridex, for
example), salicylic acid helps unclog pores by chemically destroying the plug.
You must use salicylic acid treatments continually in order to see results, as
