work with it, not against it!!

Friday, September 30th, 2005

Hey people Ive been fighting acne most of my teenage life. I am 22 now going on
23, and I finally decided to go on Accutane. I heard about all the side effects
that a person could get but honestly i was so sick of it I was to the point of
paranoia.. I felt as if everyone was starring at my skin, and all that they
looked at were my pimples. and I thought hey what the heck, what do I really
have to lose….
It’s been 2 weeks for me on the Accutane, and I am soooo happy with the
results so far….. My skin used to be so oily that i actaully used up to 4-6 of
those oil blotting tissues in a 8 hour period. After only 2 weeks on the
Accutane my skin feels fresh and clean all day! No more shine or blotting, hey
that saves my the 4.99 per pack!
Other side effects: dry lips, and my hair doesnt get as oily, I can go for 2
days without washing my hair and it’ll still be dry. Anyway I will keep you all
posted on my Accutane experience.

It hurts!

black heads

Friday, September 30th, 2005

Hi all, new here, got a question. I have black heads on my nose and
some on my cheeks and chin. I’ve tried everything out there to get
rid of them. Pricey soaps, masks, stips, and painful attacks with
bobby pins. HELP ME!! I’m 23 yrs old, i shouldn’t be having ance
problems. thanks a lot

i just got my ketsugo

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

just to keep everyone updated on my new treatment process…

i’ve been on benzac wash; clindamycin-tretinoin, glycolic gel, n an
acne-drying gel (morning); and on clindamycin-tretinoin, retinoic acid
lotion, n an acne gel (evening). im using benzac wash three times a day.
i can see that they are working for me gradually with my once a month
visits to my dermatologist to have my whiteheads n blackheads extracted.

ive added ketsugo to my regimen (after washing with benzac n before
the other medications) to see if it will help put an end to my oily
skin so i wouldn’t have to depend too much on strong acne medications.
i really have excessively oily skin.

im hoping that it will also work for me within a few weeks…

New member, HELP!!!

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

Hi. I am a new member, and I am so glad to have found this
group! I have a question for anyone, and everyone. At the moment I
have about five under-the-skin type pimples (a few of them hurt). I
usually don’t have that big of a problem with zits, and this is very
unusual for me. Here is my question, why can’t I force them to
pop?! There has to be a way. I have visited estheticians in the
past, and they are so good with that sort of thing, but I don’t have
fifty bucks to spend on that right now. I’ve always squeezed my
zits, and I have very little scarring, so I know that it works. When
I try to pop the pimples that I have now, only clear fluid just comes
out. Does anyone know what that clear fluid is exactly? What I am
about to say is NO joke. A good friend of mine is fixing me up with
her one of her husband’s friends, who is not only hot, but he is also
a dermatologist! Our first date isn’t for this Friday, but the
following Friday. I really want to look my best. Does anyone have

I would try the Cetaphil cleanser and mouisturizer. For exfoliation,
try using St. Ives Gentle stuff.. It’s in an orange bottle thing
with beads in it. Sorry I can’t remember the exact name of it.

That’s what usually works for me. If I have a pimple that I need to
get rid of, I just use some of my leftover Differin to make it go
away faster.

Went to dermatologist…. anyone familiar with these products

Cetaphil works wonders! It’s the only face cleanser I will use on my
skin. I used it while I was on Accutane and I used the mouisturizer
also, which was the only thing that kept my skin from flaking off. I
kept using it after Accutane, then I tried switching to a cheaper
soap, only to find that my skin broke out again. It’s the only thing
that works for my skin and it’s worth the "almost expensive" price
of about 13 dollars a bottle.

work with it, not against it!!

First, I discovered NEVER to use alcohol. This means no alcohol even
in your face wash. I don’t use a toner/astringent anymore either. In
fact, i use 1 tsp. yogurt and 1/2 tsp honey as a cleaner. (I love it
and i get lots of complements these days!) Second, use a moisturizer
(i use Purpose dual treatment moisture lotion); even though it seems
your face could not possibly get any oilier!!At night i use
neutrogena’s nighttime pore clarifying treatment which works wonders
and keeps me from breaking out.
Let me know if it works for you!!

New kid on the block…

Saturday, September 24th, 2005

Hello everyone! I just wanted to drop a line introducing myself. My
name is Joanne, and I am happy to be here…even though this is not a
fun subject!! I am 32…soon to be 33 years old, and have had acne
for about 5 years. Really bad too. I believe that it is this cystic
acne that you all have been discussing.

I have tried Proactiv, and it seems like every other name brand
facial cleanser out there. I have not been impressed with any. I
also just cancelled my Bare Escentuals membership. I do agree that
the product covered the blemishes pretty well…but, it was so thick
and heavy on my face that I felt like I had a mask on. I (like many)
had absolutely no problems with my skin as a teenager. But, now it
is ridiculous. And, I would rather not have to wear ANY makeup!

There was something in the other posts that I wanted to touch base

CYSTIC ACNE

Friday, September 23rd, 2005

Dear Sheila-

I am so sorry to hear about your cystic acne condition. That must really be
awful to deal with. I have read information and research about your condition
and many different medical treatments have been designed to treat your
condition. The problem I have seen is that none are 100% effective. I have
been in the health care field of nutrition for 20 years and I have found that
nutrition prevents many health conditions. However, using only a few vitamins
has not proven effective either. Vitamins have a synergy about them and they
work together when in the correct amounts to fight infections. Hence you have a
bacteria infection- your immune system may not be effective in fighting this
bacteria. The best way to build of the immune system is with high potency
multivitamin. Find a mulitvitamin that is pharmaceutical grade not just FDA
approved and has a potency guarantee. You will have few choices. I have found
one that uses pharmaceutical testing and has done wonders for people.
