Acne Tips

hi everyone!
i was surfing the net one evening and came across this support group
for acne sufferers like myself.

i wish i only suffered from a mild case of acne. however, i have been
told by a couple of docs that i have a severe case of cystic acne. i
guess they rank the severity of acne from grade 1 being mild to grade
4 being very severe. they have told that i am between a grade 3-4.

well i have tried numerous medications from topical creams and gels
to antibiotics. i can’t even remember what i have tried in the past
years. i even tried for a number of months to get professional
facials at a well-known spa on a monthly basis. i definitely dished
out mucho money for those facials. plus i even tried to do
microdermabrasion to help peel the layers of dead skin to help

This is my second month on Accutane. My skin has never looked better.
I still break out but the doctor told me in the beginning that the
first 2 months i should expect that. Some people complemented me on my
skin. This has never happened before. Just light make-up and
everything looks perfect. Don’t even have to reapply it. It’s awesome.
The first week after i started it, I would get really sleepy, but then
it went away. I use Organic Aloe Vera gel on my face and body after i
shower in the evening. Chapstick is essential. I also put petroleum
jelly on my hands and at night, a little in my nostrils. I haven’t had
any problems so far. I hope it will keep being like that for the next
3 months. The only thing I am sorry about is that I didn’t not start
earlier. Accutane rocks.

Have a problem with Cystic acne, Doctor precribe acutane, but
insurance wont cover, any other alternitives out there.

hey Nhi,
i think Alster charges $7 grand for full face?? but Adrian charges less *and*
his price includes the all-important act of subcision–not sure your scars
are severe enuff to warrant subcision but the fact that Adrian did subcision +
CO2 for less money than Alster was gonna do for CO2 alone is a sign that she is
not hip to the subcision thing? this case was from group member named
Mark(hey mark!) who went to consults to these 2 docs –same face–2 different
strategies–2 different prices….

i say try Adrian consult–shop around–this is a big ticket item–pays to
shop around?

I’m new to this group and suffer from cystic acne, mostly hormonal,
and then I get smaller breakouts (whiteheads,blackheads), throughout
the month all over my face, back and sometimes chest. I’m 25, have
had one baby (which made my acne worse), and hope to have another
baby within a year or two.

Has anybody had any success (or otherwise) with N-Lite laser
treatment? It is expensive and I’m not at all sure if it is helping
me at all at this stage (after 3 treatments).

I had stared getting Acne at 27….I know have it
under control but still get some once in awhile….I
use Proactive…

For the cystic acne your doctor can give you a
corteson shot and they will go away within a few days
and will not scar….do not pick them….

Mauri-hope it was worth the trip from Philly–did you wimp out on taking the
TCA;-)?? if squeamish about doing go to acne.org and read the thread "just
had 100% TCA CROSS" on the "scar treatments" message board–walks you thru it
all

Mary–Dr. Ali is ripping you off bigtime on that smoothbeam price-YIKES!–see
attached list of docs for shopping around–smoothbeam is good but gotta get
cheaper price!

Ryan confirmed my hunch that subcision is *worthless* unless you combine it
with a filler or some kind of collagen stimulatig activity(laser,etc) cuz the
roots will simply re-attach themselves if you just do subcision alone…
