want to help everyone (advice from a professsional)
Hello Everyone,
I would love to help everyone and I feel this need to respond
personally to every single post as I am a licensed master
esthetician and have dealt with so many of the issues each of you is
having. However, I am going in on Thursday to have my baby and
won’t be able to attend to everyone personally until next week.
My heart bleeds for everyone because I have seen it all and also
experienced bad acne myself. That is one of the reasons I became an
esthetician myself. (for those of you who don’t know what an
esthetician is…we specialize in skin care and often work in
medical settings…kind of like nurses…but some work in spas and
only experience what I call "fluff" skin care). I designed my
practice based on results and helping people.
What I am hearing is so many different ways to treat acne. The
truth of the matter is what works for some will not work for
others. There are 4 grades of acne with grade 1 and 2 being the
pimples and black/white heads. Grade 3 is more underactive acne
with more pimples and grade 4 is full on cystic acne. There are
treatments for each grade but the most important thing to consider
is exfoliation.
Think about it…if the pores are not clogged then how can a pimple
form? (not talking about cystic right now…that is an internal
infection that needs to be addressed by antibiotics…period). But
for all other grades I have treated with a strong chemical peel that
will actually break down the keratin (dead skin) layer. Scrubs will
leave microtears in the skin causing bacteria to enter and form a
pimple. Too much cleansing will over activate the oil glands. But
you can be really oily and not have pimples…why, because you can
only have a pimple if you have a clogged pore. Is this starting to
make sense to everyone?
And if you have an exfoliant…you must remember it is an
irritant…meaning it will burn and create inflammation.
Inflammation is the root of all skin evil as it makes what is
already wrong…worse. Think about it…you have to have
inflammation to create the pimple, it is inflammed tissue. So with
the chemical peels…you are creating the inflammation but somewhere
in there needs to be a buffer or anti-inflammatory such as bio-
active aloe.
I could go further but for now I will educate you this far. I so
badly want everyone to have clearer skin as I have seen it make so
many people have low self esteem. I have helped several people and
have been lucky in my studies of acne.
I am not here to taut my products but I have seen some excellent
results based on careful analysis and constant monitering. I need
to know specifics and will be happy to offer any advice on a more
personal level. Please feel free to contact me at any time (except
I will be busy this Thursday through Monday….doing the baby
thing…haha).
