anyone tried burt’s bees pore refining mask?
Hello Everyone,
Being concerned about what is in skin cleansing products is
a very important concern. And cosmetic companies don’t tell
us if they are using harmful chemicals in their products. I’d like
to share my experience with my own skincare problems and the product
that I am now using. Also, listed at the bottom of this message is
a very important link that takes you to an independent study on
cosmetic and skincare products and the level of harmful chemicals in
them.
Most of my life, I’ve just used soap and water not wanting
to use something that would irritate my skin more than it was
already. As I moved into my mid 30’s, here I am facing the issues
of unhealthy skin, I have suffered from red dry patches and spots of
blemishes but mostly just ignored it or covered it up.
Then a friend of mine introduced me to NuVante (formerly
Nutrition for the Skin). I didn’t want to have anything to
do with it. Didn’t think it was necessary. Soap and water
was just fine and makeup made it easy to ignore the
problem. It took her at least a month to convince me to try
it. And here is what got my attention.
1. The product line was created by a medical internist, Dr.
Ruthie Harper, who herself suffered from terrible acne and
dry skin problems. It was important to me to see that the
creator actually knew first hand what it was like to suffer
from skin problems. And poor thing, she did. She not only
had experience first hand but she had the knowledge to do
something about it. And so began her research to create a
product that would heal the skin from the inside out.
2. The products are created with organic and pharmaceutical
grade ingredients (no harmful chemicals). That was very,
very important to me. I eat foods that are organic and try
to live a mostly vegetarian lifestyle (I still eat fish):-). So I
wanted to apply the same philosophy to my skin.
3. My friend’s personal testimony of how it helped her. She has
noticed that the blemishes that she had, have completely
disappeared, she also said that her pores are getting
smaller. But the icing on the cake? Her husband is using
the products too! 
(She’s been using the products for 4
months).
So I finally said, ok, I’ll try them. She sent me a
complete kit with 8 of the skincare products to try for a
full week. I started trying them. Here is what I liked and
what I saw:
1. The products are very simple to use and doesn’t take a
large amount to reap the benefits. It only takes maybe a
few peasize drops for each product, less for the Hydrate
moisturizer.
2. In addition to being simple to use they ARE effective.
You can actually FEEL it working on your skin. There are
2 "ACTIVE" products that improve the health of the skin.
The first one is NOURISH. It is a product that provides the
circulation and oxygenation agents combined with healing
nutrients and anti-oxidants to begin healing the skin.
OK, this one scared me because it "flushes" your face. So
much so, that I didn’t start using them for another week
after I got them. What did that mean I wondered. Does it
hurt? So I spoke with my friend and she put my mind at
ease. I found that what she told me is exactly what I have
experienced. No, it doesn’t hurt. After washing my face I
applied the Nourish to my skin, it began to turn pink and
red in some spots, that is because it is oxygenating the
skin and applying all of the ingredients in the skin to
bring out the impurities and deliver the nutrients that the
skin needs at the same time. It does have a warm
sensation. But it does not hurt or burn. And after about
10-20 minutes the flushing/redness is complete and your
done. Apply a little moisterizer and voila your on your way.
AND, the healthier your skin, the shorter the time that
the redness lasts. And if you want to stop the process
sooner than the 10-20 minutes, you just apply the Hydrate
moisterizer and it stops the color and the sensation.
I have been using the products for 2 months now. As my skin
has begun to heal, the flushing length of time is GREATLY
decreased. It lasts about only 5 minutes now. And I look
forward to using it because I know it works.
3. The other active ingredient is REPLENISH, this is the
exfoliant. No flushing effect, just wash your face and then
apply the REPLENISH to your skin, no need to wipe it off.
As you sleep at night, it does it’s job to heal and exfoliate your
skin and replenish it with the nutrients it needs.
(You use the Replenish and the Nourish separately, meaning,
if you use Replenish in the morning, then use the Nourish at
night. You don’t use them at the same time.)
4. What have I seen for myself? My blemishes are gone, my
skin is smooth! Yipee! The red dry patches, are gone too!
And I tell you they were bad! Scally, really yuck. I am so
happy! My skin is smoother and now, I only use a little
face powder with SPF for protection from the sun. But I
don’t have to if I don’t want to because the Hydrate product
has SPF in it.
5. My husband and kids have noticed a difference. My
husband, who has always had a problem with blackheads is
using it now and he loves it! And my 13 year old is
using it as well, she wants to keep her skin healthy before
she has a problem. Smart girl! (Yes, it is safe
enough for children to use.) And having clear skin has
inspired me to tackle my other problem, my weight. 
I never thought that it would make that big of a difference
in my life but it has.
