I have had acne for over 15 years. HELP!
My face was smooth, clear, and clean when I was living in Hawaii. But
ever since I moved to California when I was about 15 years old, I
started to breakout. And thus acne became an unwanted part of my life
for over 15 years. I’ve tried just about everything, but nothing I
tried cleared away my acne. Does anyone out there know what I’m
talking about? If so, PLEASE tell me what else I can do?
THANKS VERY MUCH!

Please visit the dermatology for accutane. Believe me, u will not regret. Please
do be careful when taking accutane, it cause minor depression.

There are other options other than Accutane. If possible, I would stay as far
away from Accutane as possible. It has negative side effects other than
depression.
Read some of the posts about diet. I was on Accutane for nearly a year -
nothing good happened to me. A month after I improved my eating my acne
cleared. I have been breakout free for almost a year now.
DO NOT TAKE ACCUTANE

I totally agree with you that taking oral medication
for acne has plenty of downsides too…some of them
even worse than putting up with acne itself!
I have taken medication over the year…tetracycline
and such….finishing up on the highest oestrogen pill
Dianette. I suffered HUGE migraines with
dianette…and mood swings…terrible mood swings,
depression…
Dianette stopped tha HUGE spots from breaking out
(those lumps that form that dont have a head, just
very lumpy and last for weeks and weeks sometimes
months) But still i would get spots other than these.
In fact a nurse i saw was shocked that i had been on
dianette for 18months…because the dosage is very
very high.
Like you, i stopped all pills and really took a close
look at my diet, cutting out all refined sugar,
processed foods of every kind, caffeine, cut down on
carbs too (i was abit of a carb junkie) Basically i
cut out toxins from my diet as much as i could cope
with. Don’t boil your food to a pulp either…steam
all veg slowly and not for long, that way you DO keep
the vits and mineral content.
I found a natural plant derived glycolic cream that
works on clearing up acne which also worked for
me…its 15% glycolic acid nightcream found on
www.perfectskin.uk.com Its not greasy…soaks in
quickly.

DO NOT TAKE ACCUTANE

I think it would be safe to say that Accutane is not for everyone.
I think it’s unfair to say DONT DO THIS OR THAT, everyone should at least
try it to see if it is for them or not.
Ones bad experience wont necessairly be another persons experience.
Im going on Moday to my doc to discuss accutane, I’d really like to try it
as all other options havent worked for me.

It is still a better idea to exhaust other options, such as cleaning up your
diet before deciding to use Accutane. If the government is thinking about
taking it off the shelf because of the side-effects, then it’s probably not a
good idea to start with it.

you may try ‘roaccutane’ pills which were the only remedy for my acne after 13
years that could cure my face..a dermatologist wrote it to me.i have used them
for four months and i have no acne now.it has side effects as depression but
acne is a worse problem for me than roaccutane’s side effects.do you wonder any
other things about it?i hope yours too recover soon.

I think many people don’t realize that perhaps using these facial
cleansers/masks and all that stuff for your acne can make it worse, just
recently I stoped using all that stuff and I wash with only water now, and I
breakouts have been very few, now im just looking to get rid of scars from
them…so perhaps try washing with only water…for a few weeks, it did wonders
for me…

I tried Murad Acne Solution and don’t like it.
I bought the kit, which comes with 4 products: A Cleanser/Toner, Exfoliating
Acne Treatment Gel, Acne Spot Treatment and Skin Perfecting Lotion.
After washing my face with the cleanser (which was ok) I slathered on the
other 3 products. My skin is a bit sensitive and was reluctant to buy
anything with salycic (sp?) acid but I’m desperate. Also, the salycic acid
content isn’t as high as the regular OTC products.
Anyhoo, It was stinging my face a little but I ignored it.
The next day I woke up to some redness on my face and extreme dryness.
The next night I thought I would try putting on just the Acne Spot treatment
alone and it burned so bad I had to wash it off within 5 minutes. (It
contains sulfur)
The wash was ok, kinda drying.
The Exfoliating Treatment Gel was ok but it leaves a slight-sticky residue
on your skin. I’m gonna try it just putting it on certain areas at night.
The Acne Spot Treatment is horrid! Aaach! It burned!
The Skin Perfecting Lotion was ok. It’s just lotion for oily skin but
doesn’t contain anything to dry up your skin either.
Anyway, that’s my 2 cents. I hope this helps someone. Good Luck!
