Help with cleansers?

not true - if you have oily skin you still need to moisturize.

your skin’s natural oil does not cause pimples, neither will products with or
without oil! don’t believe that if a label says it’s oil free it means that it
won’t cause pimples.

your skin needs oil as part of it’s functioning - to act as a barrier to the
environment. pimples are caused by a mix of oil and skin cells that aren’t
sloughed off (and other particles) for lots of reasons.

but you still need to moisturize if you have oily skin — because if you leave
your skin without moisturizing, your body will tell your glands to produce more.
so use a moisturizer that says it is non-comedogenic - it will not clog your
pores. neutrogena makes a few that are good and contain sunscreen. i use one by
cetaphil. i also use jojoba oil and sweet almond oil to moisturize if i’m not

going out or if i don’t need sunscreen (at night usually). they are cheap, but
sometimes they do not feel as though they are completely absorbed by your skin
(Which i don’t mind) , but i like to use them, because they are more natural
than a cosmetic moisturizer.

clothes and "pillows" and pads and stuff like the buf puff do help to
exfoliate your skin - that’s one great way of trying to lessen your acne, but it
can irritate your skin. that is the last of what you want to worry about. i
would suggest a topical exfoliant. some people put slices of lemon on their
skin. a more popular way of exfoliating skin is to use a product or "zit gel"
that contains 1-2% salycilic acid - make sure that the product’s pH is between 2
and 4. if it is higher than 4, the SA in the product will not work as well as it
could. clean and clear’s zit gel is perfect for this. i have started to use an
acne peel kit from neostrata. it has glycolic acid at 10%, it is stronger than
the usual zit gel, but glycolic acid doesn’t penetrate the pore as far as SA
does. also i don’t use it everyday. it is expensive however, around $60. and i’m
not sure if it is sold in the states.

if you do choose to wear make up, look for ones that are non comedogenic if
you can. if you can’t, make sure you apply your makeup on a clean face with
clean hands. i wash my hands each time i touch the taps before i touch my face.
and make sure to wash your face the first minute you home. i find that helps me
a lot. then once again before bed. drying your face with a paper towel instead
of a regular towel will also stop spreading acne germs and old makeup etc. also
make sure to change your pillow case more often than normal. going to sleep
early is a huge help - i still have to work on that tho!!!

but you are in high school, and it’s normal to have acne, which is also the
worst time to have it. but don’t get too worried about it. i’m 25 and i still
get it. i’ve been on all the awful antibiotics my doctor has prescribed, a few
different kinds of birth control pill, accutane twice and other ointments.

there are two things that ill leave you with. the first is that you go to a
doctor and/or dermatologist if you acne becomes a crisis, such as if your zits
start to physically hurt when you touch them or if it starts to affect your
social skills. the second is to do research. there is lots of information on the
internet. most of which is crap and just feeds on the myths that un-informed
people have. especially if they have something to sell you!!!! but there are
medical journals and case studies and helpful sites like acne.org that can help
you distinguish the helpful info and not so helpful info. the library is
probably the best source of information.

good luck!
H.

Any help would be wonderful
