Proactiv

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

I’m considering starting to use Proactiv– I used accutane for 5
months for awhile, and it worked great but came back again after a
year. My only fear– doesn’t Proactiv bleach clothes and towels? I’ve
used benzoyl peroxie stuff before and it bleached all my clothes
despite the fact that I was very careful to rinse my hands. Have you
had any problems with that?

Feb 1 2006: First day to use my FaceDoctor sample

Thirty-fourth day (1 month & 6 days from Feb 1)

OBSERVATION:

Even when I decreased my usage to once I day, lots (and i mean LOTS)
of new tiny pimples and whiteheads kept appearing each day, even if i
try to dry the old ones with Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque, Glycolic
acid, Retinoic Acid and my acne scar gel. Because of this, I decided
to give my face about a week of rest from using facedoctor and got
myself back to my old regimen. Probably by tomorrow, I’ll continue
using facedoctor but I’ll use it only once a day or once every other
day. My oily skin reacted crazily during the purging stage. Using
Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque temporarily dried some of the pimples,
helped some whiteheads move to the surface but made my skin dry and
redder. So my face has been peeling mildly for days ever since. My

If you have oily skin I would not suggest putting any kind of heavy oil on
it.

Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Complete Acne Therapy System

I break out with Sal. Acid also. (My skin gets blotchy as well) Don’t EVER
try Glycolic Acid then because I did and I got this HUGE cyst like acne. I’m
not too happy with any face wash at the regular store nowadays. (And I have
tried everything)
Recently I bought ‘Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash’ and am happy
with the results. It’s a bit watery but gets the job done. At night: I wash
my face once with it, rinse, and then wash it again but this time I lightly
scrub it with a washcloth to exfoliate and deep clean. I’ve tried other
natural face washes (as well as natural bar soaps) and wasn’t too happy
because they either dried my face out or didn’t clean it enough. The Desert
Essence has some Tea Tree Oil in it, which usually irritates my skin but
hasn’t so far. It must be the way they have the mixture.
Many of the regular brand face washes (like Aveeno, Noxema, Oxy, etc)
Claim to be "Oil Free" but instead they just put in Petroleum or Harsh
detergents and mix it with Petroleum(Gas)-Based Moisturizers (or silicone

I have really oily skin. I have better luck with Benz. Peroxide. If I use
anything with Sal. Acid, I start to break out.

Early I stated I was using Metrocream .75% rx’d by my Derm. My face started
clearing up and now it is getting worse again. This has been my luck with
everything I have tried over the counter and rx’d. I’m not sure what to do at
this point. I’ve spent tons of money at the derm and over the counter products.

Has anyone tried laser treatments and/or a chemical peal?

Thanks,
Christina

Depending on your own sensitivity you can use either Sal. Acid or Benz.
Peroxide. It seems Benz. Peroxide tends to dry out your face more. However,
some people have sensitive oily skin (like me) and can’t use any kind of
acid. (Salic. or Glycolic)
Some products have a mixture of both.

Hi…well I just wanted to say that I have been using benzyl peroxide
aquagel in strength 5. I have acne on my back…and have tried everything in
the past apart from Roaccutane. I am totally amazed but this product is
actually working!! After suffering for 11 years of acne on my back. I am
still getting some cyst like acne but it is literally like 2 spots a week
and I can see that its helping with my scarring too. Im not gonna get too
excited just yet cos for all I know it could come back again…but for the
moment this is really doing wonders and I may even have the confidence to
wear backless tops soon (fingers crossed) LOL…..well by the way Im in the

Removing scars

by using almond oil or olive oil to remove scars, will it cause the
face to become more oily?

Oil treatments

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

Hey all,

I saw a message (#3386) where the author suggested use of almond oil
for removing scarrs.

And speaking of oil treatments…for me Tea Tree Oil (TTO) works well
sometimes. NOT ALWAYS though…(I can’t figure out why) but most of
the time with TTO my skin will be clear…and then my "womanly change"
(as my hubby calls it) starts and my face would look just horrible.

What TTO does for my face is: dries out the pimples and heals the
scars faster (doesn’t remove them).

Take care.
