Cancer and Skin Care

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

As we recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I could not help but
think of women whose skin changed during radiation and chemotherapy and
they are not sure what to do…the good news skin problems are usually
short term and easy to fix. Something proactive for you to do, something
to help you feel better.

During this time of change, you need to take special care of your skin.
First - ask your doctor regarding the products, lotions, soaps,
deodorants, sunscreen, cream, or perfume around the treatment area you
can use. If the areas are itchy or irritated, a light sprinkling of
cornstarch help, but filmy skin products may hamper your treatment.

Questions about Neutrogena products…

Hi!
Im am using this system(advanced solutions) right now, i really do
like it. I started to see my face clear the same week i started
using it! And i have tried everything. My face hasent cleared up
totally, but i dont get any more breakouts. It comes with a day
lotion that I dont really care for. But the night time cream is
great! I am also using the Neutrogena acne fadeing mask, which may
be why i am getiing good results. But I like them both. Neutrogena
has always worked well for me, I everyone is different!
Hope this helps you make a decision!!

I have acne

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Yes, it was pretty amazing. I bought his book and followed the diet
to a T. In about a week I was getting no new zits, and in a month my
skin was the best its been in years. I do find that even a
little "cheating" will usually result in a zit the next morning, but
when I stay away from the breads and sugars and take the fish oil,
things go great. I’m really amazed as I’ve been plagued by acne for
so many years its not funny. I found the book at
www.dietaryacnecure.com. I’d be curious to know if it works as well
for anyone else.

Can Antiperspirant cause Breast Cancer

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Most underarm antiperspirants contain as the active ingredient,
Aluminium Chlorohydrate, as you will probably remember there has been
controversy about Aluminium, since the 1950’s when it was a popular
metal used for making cooking pots, Saucepans and Fry Pans and that it
could be one of the contributing factors to Alzheimer’s, now we have
another problem that could also be related to Aluminium, Breast Cancer.
Research shows that one of the leading causes of Breast Cancer could be
the use of antiperspirants. The human body has a number of areas, that
it uses to purge Toxins from the body, these are, behind the knees,
behind the ears, the groin area, and the armpits. The toxins are purged
from the body in the form of perspiration and antiperspirant as the name
clearly suggests prevents you from perspiring, thereby inhibiting the
body from purging Toxins from the armpit area

My Daughter - Now Acne Free

Alison, the best thing for you to do is get you sensitized skin under control
before you start working on you acne. If you start to use ance products on your
skin it can cause it to be even more sensitized. Look for ingredients with
Candian willow herb, avina sativa or beta glucan ( both from oat meal) and red
raspberry in it. Also a great acne ingredient would be salicylic acid which is a
beta hydroxy acid and will help clear the follicle of oil and dead skin, but it
will also has calming effects too.

Good Luck, Andrea

I am just trying to help. Take it from someone that has spent a lot of
money on acne products, do your research. It made cost you some time,
but not lots of money. I hope you find the right product for you!

Although you may not be a teen, it has some great acne advice!!!!!

Does sugar cause acne??? (age-old question)

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Hi Lisa,

If you have suffered from acne all you’re life and so has your sister than
more than likely it’s hereditary. Unfortunately, we can’t change our skin type,
but we can change how we treat it. I know that you’ve probably tried everything
under the sun to help it. I had the same problem. I recommend a cleanser that’s
pH balanced to the skin with salicylic acid in it, this will help keep it under
control. Look for a spot treatment that contains atleast 5% benzoyl peroxid.
This will dry out the pimple and introduce oxygen into the skin, which will kill
the acne causing bacteria. Don’t apply it to the spot more than 2x’s a day,
benzoyl is VERY drying!! Also exfoliate atleast 2-3x’s a week preferrably with a
hydroxy acid and enzyme base. This will help do two things 1. disolve the excess
stickier & thicker oil that an acne skin produces and 2. eat away the dead skin
cells (acne skin produces 4-5x’s more than a normal skin). Always wear an oil
free moisturizer and check you’re

Yes, I have tried many "all natural products" and haven’t had much success.
I have found out, though, through my experimentation that I can’t use
anything with an acidic base. (Sal. Acid, Glycolic Acid, etc. ) Sal Acid
isn’t too horrible if it is a small amount. I tried the all natural African
Black soap which made me breakout more. Also, tea tree oil seems to cause
sensitivities. Over the counter regular acne products don’t work. (I’ve
tried almost all of them). I think it has a lot to do with my health
problems I have been having.

Alison, I caution you on choosing an "all natural" product, although
the product may be all natural, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it
will not irritate sensitive skin. All natural products too can cause
your skin to experience harsh reactions, especially if your skin is
sensitive. Do your research, find out what acne-fighting ingredients
are good for sensitive skin.

I am just trying to help. Take it from someone that has spent a lot of
money on acne products, do your research. It made cost you some time,
but not lots of money. I hope you find the right product for you!

frustrated beyond frustrated

I know exactly how you feel. I have somewhat sensitive skin and it is SO
hard to find a product that won’t destory your skin. I was actually
using a knockoff of proactive, it was called AcneFree. I can tell you
from experience, don’t use it. You never truly get rid of your acne, you
can’t go out in the sun, and worst of all, my skin got SO dry, it was
like I had a horrible peeling sunburn.

Have you tried Salicylic Acid? I have read that it is best for sensitive
skin. Although my skin is not as severly sensitive as yours here’s what
I’ve been doing: Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser to wash my
face. It contains 0.5% Salicylic Acid. I then use Neutrogena Rapid
Clear Treatment pads, they contain 2% Salicylic Acid. I use these
products at night alongside a spot treatment. Clean & Clear Advantage
Acne Spot Treamtent, contains also 2% Salicylic Acid. To fight my
severe acne, I am using about 4.5% Salicylic Acid. Incredibly, my severe
