Does sugar cause acne??? (age-old question)

Hi Lisa,

If you have suffered from acne all you’re life and so has your sister than
more than likely it’s hereditary. Unfortunately, we can’t change our skin type,
but we can change how we treat it. I know that you’ve probably tried everything
under the sun to help it. I had the same problem. I recommend a cleanser that’s
pH balanced to the skin with salicylic acid in it, this will help keep it under
control. Look for a spot treatment that contains atleast 5% benzoyl peroxid.
This will dry out the pimple and introduce oxygen into the skin, which will kill
the acne causing bacteria. Don’t apply it to the spot more than 2x’s a day,
benzoyl is VERY drying!! Also exfoliate atleast 2-3x’s a week preferrably with a
hydroxy acid and enzyme base. This will help do two things 1. disolve the excess
stickier & thicker oil that an acne skin produces and 2. eat away the dead skin
cells (acne skin produces 4-5x’s more than a normal skin). Always wear an oil
free moisturizer and check you’re

product ingredients for F,D & C dyes, lanolin, mineral oil, SD alcohol,
artificial fragrance, fromaldehyde & Isopropel myristate which can cause alot of
problems to the skin. Not just acne, but irritating and stripping of the natural
protection we have from bacteria and enviromental stuff. I hope this helps you
some. Let me know if you have any more questions. I’ve kinda become a skin
expert.

Best wishes, Andrea

P.S. Always clean your phone, change your pillow cases frequently, and try not
to touch your face to much. DON"T FORGET SPF!!!!!

Have you considered ProActive? I started breaking out 2 years ago . The main
cause was probably because of the stressful job I had at the time. Ever since
then, I’ve tried many types of medications from RetinA, to other topical creams.
My recommendation is that RetinA works . However, it does dry out your skin and
you do see an increase in breakouts when you first start. I stopped using that
since my skin was getting failry sensitive. I then switched to ProActive 2
Months ago. I’ve been using it since and I’m pretty impressed with the product.
I haven’t had any major breakouts and it has helped me control my acneprone
skin.

I asked my doctor about it and he said that acne is caused by diet and
hereditary factors but it’s primarily hormones!

Strange… I thought ance was just a teenage thing, ya know…and here I am, 20
years later, at age 35, still with acne. (sigh*)

My older sister, also suffered acne problems, once pregnant, acne dissappeared!
It was like, her face looked the best ever! And once her son was born, the acne
came back and it’s still there. So I know it is definately hormonal. Geez….do
I have to have to be pregnant to have clear skin? God, I hope not..what if that
never happens, ya know?

I have come to the point in my life where I feel like I have tried soooooo many
products and wasted thousands of dollars, I just feel like giving up on trying
to cover up my acne. But I have become so freakin’ paranoid that I have to have
makeup on my face whenever I leave the house. It’s simpy not fair.
