frustrated beyond frustrated

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

Hey Michelle,
My daughter is 15 and she is also suffering from acne. She tried Proactiv but
it didn’t work for her. After doing some research on the Internet, she narrowed
down her choice to two solutions. Clearpores and Acuzine. She finally decided
and ordered Clearpores and it has worked well for her.

Please visit www.skincarereviews.net when you get a chance as it has tons of
info for acne sufferers and the site is absolutely free.

Good luck with your acne,

Cheryl

Questions about Neutrogena products…

Friday, January 26th, 2007

I tried the Neutrogena’s Advanced Solutions kit, and it did nothing
good for me, just like any other Neutrogena product I have tried. I
have given Neutrogena many chances with several different types of
their products (hair, make up, skin care, acne), and I always get
either no results or really bad results. I the case of the Advanced
Solutions, my skin became very dry the first couple of days and then it
went back to the way it was before; my acne did not improve at all. The
Neutrogena product that I have hated the most is their moisturizer with
sun block (forgot the name). It is supposed to be light, but it is very
oily, or it feels oily. So I will never use Neutrogena again. But that
does not mean it is bad for every body, I suppose, I don’t know…

frustrated beyond frustrated

Hey…I just joined this group today. As my subject indicates, I am
beyond frustration. I skimmed some of the more recent posts and
apologize if my plea has been covered somewhat recently.

I need an acne solution for extremely sensitive skin that is
inexpensive. Does one even exist? I am 35 and have had acne since
puberty. My father still breaks out occasionally and my
grandmother, as I’ve been told, had acne til the day she passed away.

As a teenager, I took oral antibiotics and they worked quite well.
I can no longer take them because I’m very prone to yeast
infections. Last fall, I started seeing a dermatologist and the
first drug he put me on was Duac. It worked well, but it was very
harsh on my skin if I missed a couple days. It also is just too
expensive. (darn prescription tier plans…grrrr) Just last week,

Does sugar cause acne??? (age-old question)

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

Hi Lisa,

Have you considered ProActive? I started breaking out 2 years ago . The main
cause was probably because of the stressful job I had at the time. Ever since
then, I’ve tried many types of medications from RetinA, to other topical
creams. My recommendation is that RetinA works . However, it does dry out your
skin and you do see an increase in breakouts when you first start. I stopped
using that since my skin was getting failry sensitive. I then switched to
ProActive 2 Months ago. I’ve been using it since and I’m pretty impressed with
the product. I haven’t had any major breakouts and it has helped me control my
acneprone skin.

I asked my doctor about it and he said that acne is caused by diet and

Does sugar cause acne??? (age-old question)

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

Thanks, Andrea, for such fascinating insight on the androgens..I notice like,
the week before my period that I get a significant amount of acne on my cheeks
and chin area..it doesn’t matter about sugar intake that much–but I tend to
think that sugar does play some role on acne breakouts.

I asked my doctor about it and he said that acne is caused by diet and
hereditary factors but it’s primarily hormones!

Strange… I thought ance was just a teenage thing, ya know…and here I am,
20 years later, at age 35, still with acne. (sigh*)

My older sister, also suffered acne problems, once pregnant, acne
dissappeared! It was like, her face looked the best ever! And once her son was
born, the acne came back and it’s still there. So I know it is definately
hormonal. Geez….do I have to have to be pregnant to have clear skin? God, I

Questions about Neutrogena products…

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

Alot of products promise that, but not all of them deliver. I would think twice
before buying drug store products just because a lot of the ingredients are not
all that great and the percentage of the effective ingredients aren’t always
that high. Yeah they’re great ingredients, but they won’t do much if there isn’t
much in the product. Especially if you’re prone to acne. I think about
microdermibrasion products this way: micro is a procedure using a machine with
crystals by basically lightly sand blasting the face, how would a product that
has the microderm crystals in give me the same effect by just rubbing it on my
face? I might as well by an apricot scrub or a buff puff which is much to
abrasive for the skin, but you’ll get the same effect. Watch out for marketing
ads, they’re everywhere. I know only because I’ve been the skin care industry
for 5 years and learned the hard way.

Has anyone here used Neutrogena’s Advanced Solutions products? How

Questions about Neutrogena products…

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Hi,

Has anyone here used Neutrogena’s Advanced Solutions products? How
about Neutrogena’s Microdermabrasion product? Does anyone know if
these work well. I just want clear, smooth skin and those products
promise that. But I don’t know if it really works like it says. If any
of you could give me advice on those products, I’d greatly appreciate
it. Thanks!

Does sugar cause acne??? (age-old question)

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Acne definitely has a genetic basis. But for those that get acne,
diet is almost certainly a causative factor. Dr. Neil Mann from the
Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology released the results of a
dietary intervention of 43 acne patients at the Nutrition Society of
Australia meeting in November of 2005. A low glycemic high protein
diet significantly improved acne symptoms and the hormonal problems
(excess insulin, high circulating androgens) that underlie acne.

It’s possible that diet affects some people and not others. AND there may
be certain foods that stimulate acne in some, but not others.
